Ok, I give in. I miss acting. A LOT. Wish I could do back to it. But the way that my life is now, I don’t see how. They make this profession very hard to sustain and especially re-enter into. It was my life for over 14 years, that’s over half my life. Hard getting your brain used to a completely different “ending” as I saw it. I never dreamed to be a crazy famous actress, not at all actually. I just wanted to work. I loved to work.

And I miss it. So much more than words can explain.

One Strange Audition

I just thought that through this stressful time in my life, I would like to focus on some of the funny things that have happened to me (being an actress and all).
Have you ever gone into an interview and they request you to suddenly dance? (Yes, I know auditions are different, but this movie had no dancing in it.) So what do you say?

Rachael- “Really?’
Casting- “Oh yes”
Rachael- “But there’s no music..”
Casting- “I know, just dance some hip hop for us with no music.”
Rachael- “Ok….”

Now I am the whitest girl with no rhythm. I was in a movie once where I had to “pretend” to play the drums and I LOOKED so offbeat they had to switch me to be the bassist. That’s bad.
So I danced. I danced my ass off. And I sucked. I’m sure I looked similar to Elaine’s dancing in Seinfeld. In any case, I have always been traumatized by that audition and every time I drive by that casting office (yes, it was burned into my memory), I feel quite nauseous.
I have been asked to strip down to my underwear all the way to being asked to crawl around on the floor and cry. Nothing in the world like being an actor.
