Ok, I give in. I miss acting. A LOT. Wish I could do back to it. But the way that my life is now, I don’t see how. They make this profession very hard to sustain and especially re-enter into. It was my life for over 14 years, that’s over half my life. Hard getting your brain used to a completely different “ending” as I saw it. I never dreamed to be a crazy famous actress, not at all actually. I just wanted to work. I loved to work.
And I miss it. So much more than words can explain.
I certainly miss seeing you in films. There is something about your talent, look and style that stands out. However, there is absolutely nothing wrong with changing professions and not being a working actress. For some strange reason, there are people who think that once you achieve a measure of success that it’s somehow sad if you don’t remain that successful forever. Let’s face it, very few people in the entertainment industry can do that. It’s especially tough considering that success can have as much to do with luck as talent. Your path back to acting my not be clear now, but that won’t necessarily always be the case. I have a feeling that you’re not done with acting; at least I hope you’re not. In the meantime, enjoy life and have some experiences that you can bring back to your craft when the time is right. Oh… and continue to be the awesome mom that I know you are.
Hi, I m Mathias Ricco from Argentina, and I have 27 years.
If you really offer what you can come back, you were a talented actress. Know your life then having your son, but you have the advantage of having already been working in movies.
Kisses from a modest Fan.
Get back into it!!! You’re already in the mix more or less. Life throws these curveballs, but like I said…you’re already in the mix- Can’t wait to see you in something again. Head up!!
Silly duck! If you still want to act, act!
The only thing holding someone as amazing as you back is yourself. While it may not be something that shows on screens across the world, who says it has to be? Look into local theatre… If there isn’t one, why not start one?
But no matter what it is you do, we, and I, will always love you. You have brought so much joy, and asked nothing in return. I owe you a great deal.
Happy Birthday Rachael…!!
The reason we dont do what we want is cause we have reasons..
Take all the reasons for not getting back into acting..even the good reasons and put them in a reason bucket..Then go out and do it girl..for all the ups and downs in the biz its still the greatest art form…plus living the life you want is a wonderful example for your son…My son was born 3/13/1984 in Hollywood.
Best

Rachael,
Speaking truthfully, think of the life that you are leading now as a ‘detour’ rather than a roadblock. I am a working actress living in New York, fresh out of graduate school. 2010 was a tough year for me because I was enrolled in a graduate program that was utterly uninspiring. I decided to pursue a master’s degree as a ‘safety net’, this following the 10 years of training I studied in the methods and practices of theatre and the performing arts.
Indebted to paper writing, logging field hours, studying for exams, and presenting to my professors, for a subject I REALLY wasn’t passionate about was so disenchanting. There’s TRULY something about being an artist, unlike an other profession, where when you are ‘not working’, you feel vacant.
No matter what hurdles or new life experiences come your way, it is never too late to return to this profession. And although what I might be saying could be perceived critically, I think constantly of talented, sophisticated, and renowned actresses that have or are currently peaking in their 30′s and 40′s. This age range certainly opens you up to a whole other host of roles as ‘the mother’, ‘the wife’, a deeply developed character with incredible life experiences.
Think of the time that you’re spending now as further inspiration for the future. Don’t let the life you are leading currently put a shutter on the aspirations that you originally saw for fit yourself. You truly are a talented young woman with a unique look, setting you apart from typical young talent.
Plus, you have experience under your belt and remember that those relationships with producers, directors, etc. was for a reason…they saw something in you more than the next competition. Try renewing your contacts and see what projects they’re working on. Spark conversations to see what their colleagues may be pursuing. It’s never too late.
Stay strong.
With regards,
C.C.
Hey, I just watched Jimmy and Judy, my friends said I should buy it, so I did and it kicked fukn ass. You did an awesome job and if you really want it, go get it. Everyone’s life sucks, some people would sell their souls to be in the predicaments we call “tragedies” while they are literally starving to death, losing a limb, at war, etc. I’m a junior in college, 21, and want to be a defense attorney. You know how much more shit I got to do just to be able to fill out an application at a law firm? But I dont give a fuk cuz I know I can do it. You’ve already proven you can be an actress very successfully, so do it again. For real, after I watched the movie I googled you and saw you haven’t done a movie in a while and I just read you really want to. Call your fukn agent and tell him to get shit fukn rollin. Be a cool ass indie actress and you’ll still make bank and never be accused of being apart of the Illuminati, chin up, lifes a bitch, roll with it, and shoot some people on the way too (thats a phrase i just coined, dont take it as literal advice lol)
If you’re interested in work, I’m sure there are theatres that would love to have an actress who worked in film.
Getting back into it could be rough. But look at the bright side of all of this. You have an beautiful son (up and running around), to no doubt keep you wore out. You have been on the big screen.. ever so much more than what 99 percent of us could ever accomplish. My brother was a model for Calvin Klein and Armani for a year or two. He quit due to some of the strange things that they had told him to do (like your earlier writings). He had a ABC soap opera screen test lined up an all, and he just walked away from it all. He went on to go to UCLA, haha, dropped out of that too. Now he makes web sites for some of the largest companies in America. Everything might seem a little ‘out of whack’ but things just seem to fall in people’s laps. If you want it, go for it. But just think for now, if you can’t/don’t want to, you have a non-hectic life and can watch your son grow up. You are beautiful and have no doubt made friends in the acting world, as well as talent. Heck, you were the lead actress in Jimmy and Judy. Probobly a poor topic but you were hot then and still beautiful now.
FYI I listened to a podcast today called “the film vault”. It is one of the shows on the ace network from adam carolla’s podcast site. I listen to it every week and will check out some of the films they recommend. They talked about jimmy and judy, which is currently streaming on netflix. I thought the film was good, but you were great. You have a new fan. You keep trying and i’ll keep watching. Chin up and be proud.
I think most these guys just want to date you.
Im a mother of 3 and although I never aspired to becoming an actress, I do know how guilt ridden, and confused I was when I actually admitted to myself that I missed my career. It IS very hard to be pulled away from a livlihood that fed my ego, my heart, and most of all, my self esteem. I felt as if being a “mother” was not enough. Honestly, I still do. So I fill my time with running marathons and artistic pursuits. Do I feel fufilled? Depends on the day you ask me but I do know that clarity of my life will come in time and right now I am just riding the wave until it does.
Wow finding you here brought back some nice memories, I used to have a semi-crush on you back in the days
In Sweden where I lived 10 years ago, we celebrate something called Lucia on the 13th of December. That midnight the cinemas always keep open until early morning for a special pre-premiere three movie marathon, the only twist is that you have no idea which movies they are about to show. My group got The Tuxedo first and when we came out to change salon we passed the people who had The Ring as their first movie. They looked destroyed, some had been crying and some of them even advised us not to go in there
But of course we did and thanks to them we were shook-up before it even started. The first scene is one of the best scenes ever, the whole feeling surrounding that part is so amazing and it ended up scared the living shit out of me. And then you of course #€&”#€!”#!!.. I remember walking home from the cinema with my friends thinking you were possibly the most gorgeous heart-stopping girl ever, took me months to forget your face
After all these years I saw The Ring again yesterday with a friend and it brought back all these memories. I told her about you and she wasn’t sure it was legal to say that today lol, after that I just had to google your age, which led me here. Guess old unanswered feelings will never completely go away
I hope you can go back to living your dream one day, R.
Hi Rachael !
I think you will be astonished when you’ll know who I am. As so I am since I have discovered that I can write to you, directly.
I am your french voice in “The ring”. I’m an actress. I live in France, in Paris area, and I have 2 children (2 boys : 6 and 2 years old). Congratulations : everybody says you are a wonderful mother. I think being a mother is one of the most beautiful thing a woman can live.
I work professionally for 14 years, like you, apparently.
Most of the time, I work in theater, with the persons I like.
I work free lance for different people (mainly friends) and I have a theater company too (I play what I appreciate).
If you go and see my website, you could see that I work in voices too (for films, cartoons, ads, documentaries…)
For events, I sometimes sing, dance or walk on stilts.
My dream now, especially this year because I feel really ready, is to play for cinema. I have some experience (it was very interesting) and now I try to know people from cinema, in order to have a role.
I hope everything is OK for you. It’s amazing writing to you.
If you have time, thank you for a little answer.
I wish you the best for you and your family.
Karine.
hey dude!
i’m sure all this industry doesn’t want only talent,, they want humans who can use them as products, so they can sell the life style they want and of course all is about money! anyway i’m from greece, my engish is not perfect so i can’t really explain what i wanna say,
i think you are really smart and cool! and by the way, we were born the same day, i don’t know if it matters hehe,,
let’s talk some time
cheerzz
Rachael!! If I was in California or where ever you live! Now with you. I would be like taking you to these acting auditions against your will! And if these casting people say, “Who is this chick” I will make them let you audition, against their will! xD Cause your destiny in acting is not over yet… If you beleive in destiny. if you don’t you can see it as, your desire for acting is not over yet. There for stick to it. There are people who have seen your films like Jimmy and Judy, who want more off you cause off your awesome pressence on screen as well as your look and just who you are! You also are a kick ass actress. That counts too, if not more.
From the work you have done so far and the fame you have so far. You already have a good network off fans. Not many people at this point in their career have that! In life you can be happy weather your acting or not, But you still have potential. Either way All your fans wish you happiness. <3 Lots off love!
Wow…I grew up in Vermillion, too. Lived on Yale, by Prentiss. Wawoo…
We miss you Rachael
I know you probably don’t remember me. That’s ok. We were friends when we were really young. oh god I feel old. It was when the movie “the little princess” first came to theaters. We saw it together. I thought it was so cool that I was sitting next to someone that was in the movie I was watching. I am so sorry that you are missing it. I remember how much you loved it. It really was your passion. Life is so crazy in the directions it takes us. Congratulations on your son. Although that was several years ago. I hope that you get it back. The acting and singing that you loved so dearly.
YOU SHOULD ACT!! We all miss you!
Btw, do you have a twitter?
XOXO <3
That look you had in Jimmy and Judy right after you two were “intimate” for the first time is what sold me. That look was real. I’ve rarely seen it in real life, and never I’ve never seen it in a movie. It reminded me of someone from a long time ago. You moved me.
